What is the Diversity Visa Lottery?

Each year, the Diversity Visa program allows more than 50,000 randomly selected people to obtain permanent residence (commonly called a "green card").

1. Country of birth

For more information, the Department of State provides a list of all eligible countries .

2. Education

You must have at least a high school degree or at least two years of work experience in the past five years in a profession that requires at least two years of training, as determined by the US . Work Department.

Where can I register?

 

All entries must be submitted electronically at the Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website during the specified registration period.

​

If you are selected in the green card lottery, you and your family members will need to meet the same requirements as any other US green card applicant.

what happens afteruh?

 

When you're notified that you've won your diversity visa, you'll get a numerical range that tells you when you can apply for your visa.
